Our AYM 4 Christ Core Teams consist of very dedicated people, who come from many different places and experiences, and are focused on doing a good job of ministering their faith to the young people of OLA.

Our spiritual Father and Leader of our whole parish, Father David has been an integral part of AYM 4 Christ's development. A huge supporter of the young people of our parish, Father David puts a great deal of trust into the AYM 4 Christ Program, and its facilitators. Though older than our staff by years, Father David is not outdone in youthfulness or passion for ministering to the Youth of our church, as he is a compassionate leader that is very well appreciated by AYM 4 Christ. Always an advocate of faith and compassion in our ministry, our "fearless leader" he makes sure that our mission and the way we minister to the young people is correct and accurate to the mission of Our Lady of the Assumption, and to the entire Catholic-Christian Community. |
| Kathleen Estrella is the Director of Youth Ministries at Our Lady of the Assumption. She is an extremely talented, exciting minister, who brings the best out of anybody and everybody she works with. She is also the Director of Music for the parish and the Director of High School Religious Education. A very busy woman, she is very trusting of the AYM 4 Christ Core Team, and directs the Sunday Night Youth Choir. She is married to her husband of over 18 years, Edwin Estrella, and has 4 children: Christopher (21), Khiarra (15), Khaeryst (10), and Chrisxander (Born April 28th, 2009).
A popular musician in the Diocese of San Bernardino, she plays the keyboard/piano, and sings, sometimes accompanied by the Youth Choir, which is growing ever-more-popular among the diocese. As a composer, she has written many original songs, some of which we at OLA use on occasion.
For 6 years, Kathleen was a musician for the ArchDiocese of Los Angeles, for it's Religious Education Congress, singing solos in the Master Choir directed by John Flaherty, and playing the Synthesizer Keyboard for the Youth Day Choir, directed by Ed Archer. |
| Edwin Estrella is the Coordinator of Hospitality and Semi-Coordinator of Media Ministry at the Sunday Youth Mass. In his free time, he enjoys getting beat in basketball by his sons, Chris and Xander. He is also the Religious Education Confirmation 2 Teacher, and is appreciated by all his students, past and present, as a man of many jokes (though they're not always good). He is married to Kathleen Estrella, and father to Christopher, Khiarra, Khaeryst, & Chrisxander. |
"Mrs. Ginny", as we call her, is one of our wonderful Core Team Leaders this year. She is a strong woman who has been through many experiences in her life, and has much that she can teach to our Youth in AYM 4 Christ, as well as our young group of Facilitators. Mrs. Ginny is the proud grandmother of Ashlee Swit, an AYM Jr. High Facilitator, and has taken the role of a "Guiding Mother" to all the members of AYM 4 Christ. But don't let her age fool you !! She can be just as youthful and energetic as ANY of the AYM Facilitators !! She is the one feeding all of your children every week !! We are VERY GRATEFUL for the work she does with our "food ministry", which is one of the most important parts of our AYM 4 Christ Program. |
| Ernesto is the Coordinator of AYM Hispanic. Born in Mexico, and having lived in America for almost 12 years now, he has experienced life on both sides of the border. He is happily married to Cindy, who works in the Parish Main Office, and Co-Coordinates AYM Hispanic with him. 23-years old, he is very talented with the guitar, which he plays with the "Ninos" choir once a month. He has already had experience with Youth Ministry at St. Geoge's Parish in Fontana. |
| Cindy, 20, is one of the Leaders of AYM Hispanic, alongside her husband, Ernesto. She works in the Main Parish Office, and helps the Hispanic ministries of our parish very greatly. Though not very loud and outspoken at first glance, she is a strong individual, and has proven to be very funny at times. We are excited to have her and Ernesto as the Leaders of AYM Hispanic. |
One of the newer AYM 4 Christ branches, AYM Filipino is a Youth Ministry that focuses on the young filipinos of our parish (though it is NOT limited to only filipinos as all are welcome). They meet every first Friday of the month, after the 6:30 "First Friday" mass, which many of our filipino parishioners attend, and is devoted to the "Saint" Santo Nino.
| A Freshman at CSU San Bernardino, and IB graduate of Cajon High School, Princess (yes that is her real name) is the Coordinator of AYM Filipino. She is a very caring person, who focuses on the task at hand. She is a co-Lead Lector for the Youth Mass, can speak both English and Tagalog, and is also an AYM High Leader. |
AYM CITA is a branch of AYM 4 Christ that differs from all the other ones. AYM CITA (which stand for Assumption Youth Ministry: Caught In The Act) is a ministry that does not focus on gathering for typical catechesis. Rather, AYM CITA focuses on COMMUNITY SERVICE, in, and around the San Bernardino area. Headed by Ms. Jamie Lou Sabellon, it is a big part of our program, and will prove very beneficial to our Confirmation Program. CITA organizes events, such as visiting reitrement homes & convalescent hospitals, helping environmental growth, cleaning up San Bernardino, serving at Mary's Table, donating clothes and toys to Veronica's House of Mercy, as well as others.
Please see Ms. Jamie Lou for more details.
| Jamie Lou is a Junior at Cajon High School, and also the younger sister of Princess, and older sister of Ric, who is in AYM High. She, like her siblings, was Confirmed in the Philippines, where they grew up. Co-Lead Lector with her sister, she has a strong voice that emits a grace in those who hear her read the Word of God at the Youth Mass. She is also an assistant leader in AYM Jr. High & AYM Filipino, is a leader of Cajon High School's Christian Club, and is the Coordinator of AYM CITA. Wow !! How busy !! But she is quite capable, and AYM 4 Christ very much appreciates our own "Mama CITA" !! |
Our AYM High Core Team is designated to minister to those Youth of our Parish who are currently in High School. They focus on preparation for Confirmation (as many of them are in preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation), Personal and Commune Respect, Faith questioning, and discuss other in-depth and personal subjects that Youth of that age group have to often deal with.
| Interim Coordinator of AYM High, "Dea" (Day-Uh) is a Junior at the UC Riverside, as a Psychology Major. She is a very focused girl who acheived over a 4.0 GPA in High School and is on the Dean's Honor List at UCR, and sings in the Youth Choir. She has a twin brother, Josh, who attends UC Berkeley. She is also the AYM 4 Christ Representative on the Parish Council. |
| Eric is one of our new AYM 4 Christ Leaders. Like his younger brother, Ervin, he's from Chino Hills, and lives with Ervin in San Bernardino, for educational purposes, as Eric & Ervin attend CSUSB & UCR, respectfully. A cool-headed and intellectual leader, Eric is a huge Lakers fan (like Brian, Ervin, Mr. Edwin, and Chris), and, like several other Core Team Members, is a big fan of good video games. In his off time, he plays the guitar & ocarina, and saves the world from vampiric hamsters during the night. |
| Andrew is a valuable leader for AYM High. He is a man who is well-versed in the tenets and canons of our Roman Catholic Church, and is also a coordinator of OLA's Youth Adult Ministry. He is a member of the United States Army, and a leader in the CSUSB Army ROTC, as well as the United States Army. He is a strong individual, both physically and spiritually, and also teaches the 9th Grade Pre-Confirmation Class here at OLA. Always helpful, and, like Chris & John, a fan of good foods, Andrew's ministry has surely changed AYM 4 Christ for the better in his time here. |
| Ervin is one of our new AYM 4 Christ Leaders. Hailing from Chino Hills, his family is from St. Paul the Apostle Church in Chino. He is also a "Cross Trainer" (retreat leader) for the parish. Funny and courageous to new things, he's always ready for what God is calling him too. He has also begun to play the drums for the Youth Choir. Like Brian & Chris, he is absolutely in love with the LA Lakers. He also hunts water buffalo and eats Chinese Pizza in his off time. |
| Bridget is a very special member of our AYM High Core Team. She has gone to Catholic schools for most of her remembered life. As a student, she excels, attending Mount St. Mary's University, a mostly-girl's-school in Los Angeles. Though she lives far away, she still makes time to come and help out with AYM 4 Christ. She attended St. Catherine's of Siena in Rialto, where she met Chris Estrella in 6th Grade. They have been good friends ever since. |
| Though he is not around as much as we would like, Brian is an important part of AYM 4 Christ. A college graduate, he is and avid Lakers fan (along with Mr. Chris & Mr. Ervin), who has gone through many life-altering experiences in his time, which he has shared with AYM High. He attends Graduate School at California-State University, San Bernardino. |
Our AYM Jr. High Core Team is designated to minister to the Youth of our parish who are in the 6th, 7th, and 8th Grades. They focus on fostering general fellowship and appreciation for God in others, and givig general knowledge of the Catholic Faith that the Youth are participating in. They discuss different subjects than the AYM High Youth, and upon reaching High School "Move Up" to the AYM High ministry.
| Luis is both a new leader of AYM Jr. High and Co-Coordinator of it as well. A hardworking individual who has a willingness to serve, he plays guitar with Chris for the Youth Choir. He also helps out with AYM Hispanic and AYM Filipino. He grew up and was confirmed in Mexico. He helped lead the acoustic show at Cajon for the last 2 years, and he was one of the officers of an agricultural club during his freshman year at Fontana High School.

| A High School Junior, Ashlee has a spirituality that is Beyond Her Years, to say the least. Obedient to God, and Loving to others, she is a talented singer in the Youth Choir, and a very popular AYM Jr. High Leader. She takes courses at CSU San Bernardino already, is one of the few Core Team members to have been confirmed through RCIA, and is a VERY talented bowler. (let's just say, you better be able to break 100 if you challenge her) |
| Megan is another one of AYM Jr. High's newer Core Team Members. She has gone to OLA pretty much her entire life, and was recently confirmed by our Bishop. A big fan of acting, she has been in many plays and shows, often with her big brother, Andrew, for Junior University. She works in a beauty shop, and helps with both hospitality as well as the Youth Choir, and has gained renown as a fanatastic friend that our kids can talk to. |
| Alex is another new member of our AYM Jr. High Core Team. He is a talented musician, playing the violin for parish events, and is a proud filipino-american. He has good knowledge of the Catholic Church, and will help greatly with assisting the middle school youth with their faith journey. He is a senior at Cajon High School, where he leads the violin section of the band and helps with tennis, as well as leading their new Catholic Club. |
The Coordinator of AYM Jr. High, and son of Mrs. Kathleen. He takes classes at Cal State San Bernardinio and is a musician for their Newman Center.
